  so i was invited to an assembly by my jw teacher .

  i think i will be pretty bored and feel out of place.

  it is a 3 day assembly this summer and the jw said they were to invite everyone (interested).

  You could stay single.

  Witnesses are encouraged to stay single so that they can spend more time knocking on doors selling magazines. They're also encouraged not to have children "woe to the woman with child" again because having children would take up your time, time that could be better spent knocking on doors selling magazines.

  you're getting a lot of true opinions from this site Elizabeth, stuff you wont hear down the hall. I hope some of it is sinking in as to what you are getting involved of here.

  Elizabeth.

  On the subject of relationships, do you know that your would be JW husband could beat you every night for what ever stupid reason and you would NOT be allowed to leave and divorce him. He could treat you REALLY really badly and they only way that you could end that marriage is if one of you commits adultery. If you try to run away from him and run to a sister for help she'll call the elders and they'll make you go back to him.

  Don't believe me? ask around in this group. there are loads of beaten and abused wives here.

  uh huh, no relationships for you. You're still a worldly person, not even an approved associate. You wont be able to date a brother until you are baptised at least. If you get to friendly with a brother an elder will have a quiet word with him and tell him to drop you.

  Cloud,

  Jesus gave up his life so that you might be forgiven. He died a really horrible death so that you could be forgiven. Now if he's made such a big sacrifice for you don't you think you should bloody well use it. He did it for you. For you to forgive yourself. Now forgive yourself in his name and move on.

  By not forgiving yourself you are rejecting his gift to mankind and that's probably worse than the original sin you committed.

  all right, now that we're talking about movies again, let's turn each other on to some of these:the best movie you thought you'd hatemine are: perfect blue my first exposure to intelligent anime.

  come to think of it, this is definitely a "best weird movie," too.fight club i'd been avoiding it for years because of the violence.the truman show i mean, jim carrey's mugging plus cliched preachments.

  well, that's what it could have been.basquiat a depressing ending to a story of mixed accomplishment and really bad judgement, complicated by mental illness but the scene where he hallucinates a work of art he has just designed, and smiles it explains so much.

  just wondering... what do you think about the jw going door to door?

  do you like it or dislike it?

  my view is ( weather something is false or not) i think it is great someone shares what they love with someone else.

  If you're baptised you'll be required to fill in a little form every month to let the JW Head Office know how long you spent in the ministry, how many publications you placed, and how many return visits or studies you went on.

  You'll be required to do a minimum of 10 hours a month knocking on doors in all sorts of weather and in all sorts of places (including some not very nice areas)

  If you fail to do at least 10 hours a month you will get into trouble with the Elders. If it is noticed by the brothers and sisters that you aren't very active in knocking on doors you will thought of as spiritually sick and people will avoid you.

  Knocking on doors isn't as easy as it seems Elizabeth. At the moment you are all fired up with all the new stuff you have learnt and no doubt you want to get out and tell everyone. However not everyone is going to be as excited about this as you are. I've spent years having doors slammed in my face, I've been sworn at and abused to and I'm a big mean looking bloke! If the general public treated me like that how do they treat sisters?
